Events Manager and WPML Compatibility

Beskrivning

This plugin helps make Events Manager and WPML work better together by allowing translation of all event-related features:

** Version 2.0 is a major revamp that fixes all known issues, nuances and limitiation. 2.0 enables full compatiblity with Events Manager and Events Manager Pro Add-ons **

  • Detects translated pages of specific EM pages (assigned in Events > Settings > Pages) and displays relevant language content
  • Searching locations and events within the context of the current language being viewed.
  • Recurring events can be created in multiple languages, recurrence translations are correctly created.
  • Event translations will share relevant information across all translations, including
    • Event Times
    • Location Information
    • If translations for the location exist, translated events will show/link to location of the same language, if not the original location translation.
    • Bookings and Booking Forms
    • If you delete an event that is the originally translated event, booking and other meta info is transferred to default language or next available language translation.
  • Location address information can be translated, whilst sharing coordinate, country/zip information accross translations.
  • Event-related text can be translated for each language including:
    • Custom texts, emails templates and formats on the settings page.
    • Booking and attendee custom forms (available in Pro)
    • Custom event and gateway emails (available in Pro)
  • MultiSite cross-site support, including showing events from other blogs in your network when EM Global Tables Mode is enabled.
  • Displaying untranslated items in lists or hiding them, according to WPML settings.

Special Installation Steps

Please ensure that WPML 4.2 and EM 5.6.7 or higher are installed BEFORE updating or activating this plugin.

When setting up EM and WPML, you should create translated versions of the event, location, category, tag, etc. pages assigned in Events > Settings > Pages of your admin area. Duplicating them using WPML is enough.

Given the flexibiltiy of both plugins, there is an huge number of possible setting/language combinations to test, and despite our rigorous testing it is impossible to test every setting combination and scenario. To the best of our knowledge, we have achieved 100% compatibility, but should you come across on your setup and we’ll do our best to fix them as time permits.

Installation

This plugin requires WPML and Events Manager to be installed BEFORE installing this plugin.

Events Manager WPML works like any standard WordPress plugin. See the Codex for installation instructions.

When the plugin is enabled, it’s impossible to save any Events Manager Settings anymore. With some trickery it’s possible to translate events themselves (you have to deactivate the plugin first though, and in the meantime all translations will appear everywhere). Overall, it’s a nightmare. If I hadn’t paid for EM Pro I’d have given up ages ago. Do NOT buy Events Manager Pro if you want to translate your website using WPML. It simply doesn’t work.

I used to run this Plugin for a few years to translate Events, and the chance to translate emails from the Settings page was excellent. However, this is no longer possible. I noticed after a series of updates of WPML, Events Manager and PHP Upgrade (to 7.2) that this plugin is responsible for this error> Deprecated: Function create_function() is deprecated in /homepages/1/d570148024/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/events-manager-wpml/events-manager-wpml.php I now need to keep it deactivated if I want this error to disappear. So sad…this was otherwise a great Plugin.

If you have WPML and use Events Manager, this is a must. Works perfect. There are some (very few) parts that are not translatable yet, but 95% of the strings are translatable.

This used to work well until about November 2015. Then something was done to the code that meant second language venues no longer display correctly, and you are forced to have all addresses in a single language. I am working welsh/english, and welsh and english addresses ARE different. Prior to the update that caused the failure, it worked well. Unfortunately, despite starting again (several times) this cannot be rectified and the support is VERY unresponsive, pretty much refusing to acknowledge that (a) it used to work even though I could show them a working site pre-upgrade (b) that addresses should be different in different languages and (c) that the various plugins are no longer sensitive to the second language (showing either ALL or NONE) even though I have bent over backwards to provide access to test sites where things are not good. They also will not provide any indication that the bugs they do acknowledge are on a fix list or give any estimated time to fix. Tried getting WPML involved in this but they gave up fairly quickly. I am currently looking to move away from this product so that I can avoid paying again for what’s far-from-premium support. It is not good enough to ignore customers.
