store, allowing customers to contact you directly with pre-filled product information.

### External Services
This plugin generates click-to-chat links that direct users to WhatsApp via the `
wa.me` short-link service operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.
**What data is sent and when:**
Data is transmitted only when a visitor actively
clicks the chat button. At that point, the browser opens a URL in the following
form:
```
https://wa.me/?text=
```
The phone number is the one you configure in the plugin settings. The pre-filled
message may include product name, price, URL, shop name, and SKU — all sourced from
your own WooCommerce store. No data is transmitted automatically or in the background.

## Installation
1. Upload the plugin files to the `/wp-content/plugins/themevix-direct-chat-button`
directory, or install the plugin through the WordPress plugins screen directly.
2. Activate the plugin through the ’Plugins’ screen in WordPress.
3. Go to **TV Direct Chat** in your WordPress admin sidebar to configure the plugin.
4. Enter your chat phone number with country code (e.g., +1234567890).
5. Customize the button text, style, and position as needed.

### What format should I use for the phone number?
Enter your chat phone number with country code, without spaces or dashes. For example:
+1234567890
### Can I use this without WooCommerce?
This plugin is designed specifically for WooCommerce. However, you can use the shortcode`[
tv_direct_chat]` on any page.
### How do I change the button position?
Go to **TV Direct Chat** in your WordPress admin sidebar and select your preferred
position from the ”Button Position” dropdown.
### Can I customize the pre-filled message?
Yes! Go to the plugin settings and customize the ”Pre-filled Message” field. You
can use placeholders like {product_name} and {product_price}.
### Does this work with variable products?
Yes, the button works with all WooCommerce product types including variable products.
### Does this track or store my personal data?
This plugin does not collect usage analytics, tracking data, or telemetry. Button
settings are stored only in your WordPress database. When a visitor clicks the chat
button, their browser opens WhatsApp (`wa.me`) with the phone number and pre-filled
message you configured — see the External Services section below.
### Is this plugin GDPR compliant?
Yes. This plugin includes a built-in GDPR consent checkbox feature. When enabled,
users must check a consent box before chat links open (including quick-reply template
links). You can customise the consent text and link it to your Privacy Policy page.
The plugin does not collect or store visitor personal data in WordPress.
### What’s the difference between this plugin and the premium add-on?
This plugin includes a product/cart chat button, GDPR consent, exclusion rules,
quick-reply templates, RTL support, and animation/hover effects. An optional add-
on (sold separately, not hosted on WordPress.org) adds a floating chat widget, multi-
agent support, lead capture, analytics, WooCommerce automation, and related extras.
### Do I need a WhatsApp account?
Yes. This plugin creates click-to-chat links that open WhatsApp. You need an active
WhatsApp account (personal or business) associated with the phone number you configure
in the plugin settings. A WhatsApp Business account is recommended for professional
use.
