BotDesk AI Chat adds your BotDesk AI receptionist to your WordPress site. BotDesk answers your visitors’ questions, captures the leads you’d otherwise miss, and can book appointments — trained on your own business in about five minutes. When you’re closed, busy, or asleep, it keeps replying so a customer with a question doesn’t bounce to a competitor.
This plugin connects your WordPress site to your BotDesk account. You paste your BotDesk API key once, and the widget appears on the front end of your site. There is nothing to code.
What the assistant does for your visitors
- Answers questions about your hours, services, and pricing, using your own site’s information.
- Captures the visitor’s name, phone, and email along with what they asked, and emails it to you.
- Routes ready-to-buy visitors toward booking an appointment (on supported plans).
- Works around the clock, on any page of your site.
How it works
This is a companion plugin for the hosted BotDesk service at botdesk.studio. You need a BotDesk account and API key. The plugin injects the official BotDesk widget script (https://botdesk.studio/widget.js) into your site’s footer with your key. It does not make any server-side calls of its own — the widget loads in the visitor’s browser exactly as BotDesk’s standard one-line embed does.

Third-Party Service Disclosure
This plugin relies on the BotDesk service, a third-party hosted product. When a visitor loads a page on your site, their browser loads the BotDesk widget script from https://botdesk.studio/widget.js, and chat messages the visitor sends are processed by BotDesk to generate replies. No data is sent by this plugin from your server; all communication is between the visitor’s browser and BotDesk.

Installation
- Install and activate the plugin.
- Go to Settings BotDesk.
- Paste your BotDesk API key (find it in your BotDesk dashboard — it is the value inside
data-api-key="…"in your embed code). - Make sure Show widget is checked, and save.
- Visit your site — the chat button appears in the corner.
